Senior Director, Scientific Affairs

Bio

Fanny Guimont-Desrochers joined CQDM in January 2023 as Director of Scientific Affairs, and as of April 2025, she has advanced to the position of Senior Director. Before joining the team, Fanny was director of investments and health promotion at the Quebec Cancer foundation. Together with her team, she developed and managed research investments, support programs, and educational and awareness-raising initiatives.

She accumulated over 10 years in academic and private research, specifically working as a preclinical research scientist at Charles River Laboratories. She assessed the safety and efficacy of new medicines. In addition, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Institute, as well as an international postdoctoral researcher at the National Institutes of Health.

Fanny holds a doctorate in microbiology and immunology, awarded by the faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal in 2013. Her research work focused on the genetic and functional study of Interferon-producing Killer Dendritic Cells, white blood cells with a strong anti-tumour potential. As part of her studies, she received several grants and excellence awards, and she presented the results of her research at numerous national and international conferences.

Her philanthropic commitment, particularly in her previous role as director of investments and health promotion at the Quebec Cancer Foundation and as a volunteer for 8 years at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), demonstrates her passion for research and her commitment to making science accessible to all patients and their family members.

Fanny is a keen swimmer, a sport that she appreciates for its technical nature and the challenge it provides. Her love of performance is reflected in each movement that she makes in the water. A dynamic and curious person, she loves being active and acquiring new knowledge.
