Creation of a global hub for RNA-based therapies in Quebec

Montreal, April 30, 2024. – The CQDM welcomes the announcement of the creation of an innovation hub for RNA-based therapies. This important mobilizing project is made possible thanks to a financial contribution of $20.3 million from the Government of Quebec (MEIE) and granted as part of the Stratégie québécoise des sciences de la vie (SQSV) 2022-2025.

The project, which mobilizes a significant number of players in Quebec’s life sciences ecosystem, aims to develop and consolidate Quebec’s expertise, innovation, talent and biomanufacturing capabilities, which constitute important assets to attract innovative companies specializing in RNA-based therapies. The initiative thus paves the way for the development of numerous innovations with high potential to offer new approaches to treat a wide range of diseases, including those that were previously difficult to treat.

More information available via the government of Quebec’s press release.

This mobilizing project is the result of a vast consultation carried out by the CQDM with the various players in our ecosystem and large international companies. By leveraging the depth and complementarity of local expertise, it will increase the competitiveness of Quebec companies and create a global center of attraction for RNA-based therapies, a highly promising sector. The CQDM is excited about the idea of collaborating on the success of this major initiative alongside partner organizations committed to the advancement of biopharmaceutical innovations in Quebec. ‘’
