Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives

Bio

Rebeca Baca-Díaz joined CQDM in June 2018, and she is now Program Manager of Strategic Initiatives. Rebeca brings to CQDM more than 20 years of solid work experience in the management and rigorous monitoring of scientific projects as well as the implementation and management of research grant programs. At CQDM, she played a key role in managing the projects and program of the Fonds d’accélération des collaborations en santé (FACS), a $70 million initiative.

Prior to joining our team, she directed major initiatives at Mitacs, a Canadian innovation organization, supervising the implementation of pioneering national programs such as the Accelerate and the Elevate programs. Thanks to her leadership skills and her attention to detail, she developed strategic processes to optimize these initiatives. Previously, as a bilingual program manager at the Agricultural Adaptation Council in Ontario, she managed grants in the agricultural and agri-food sectors in partnership with provincial and federal government agencies.

Rebeca holds a B.Sc. in Nutrition and Food Science from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico, before obtaining her M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology from Université Laval in Quebec City, and a Diploma in Strategic Leadership from the Schulich School of Business at the York University in Ontario.

Rebeca is an avid reader of history books and biographies, and also cultivates her creative side through crafts, notably sewing, crochet and bobbin lacemaking.
