{"id":6811,"date":"2025-08-11T10:22:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T14:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cqdm.org\/?p=6811"},"modified":"2025-10-01T13:18:41","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T17:18:41","slug":"call-for-ideas-innovations-in-targeting-moieties-for-precision-therapeutics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cqdm.org\/en\/news-and-events\/call-for-ideas-innovations-in-targeting-moieties-for-precision-therapeutics\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Ideas: Innovations in Targeting Moieties for Precision Therapeutics\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CQDM<\/strong> is pleased to launch a call for ideas for our upcoming CQDM Connect-Pharma: Pitch Day.&nbsp;<br><br>We are searching for world-class research on targeting moieties that can revolutionize precision medicine to present to domain experts from leading global pharmaceutical organizations on <strong>November 20th, 2025.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our objective is to bring ground-breaking, innovative Canadian research to CQDM\u2019s pharmaceutical members and facilitate interactions between our pharma members and the Canadian ecosystem. There is the potential for collaborative projects developed with a CQDM pharmaceutical member to obtain funding via CQDM\u2019s Quantum Leap program.&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We are seeking innovative concepts and emerging technologies that enable or enhance the development of\u202f<strong>targeted therapeutic modalities<\/strong>. While\u202f<strong>antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)<\/strong>\u202fremain a key area of interest, we welcome ideas across a broad spectrum of\u202f<strong>molecular conjugates<\/strong>\u202fthat link a\u202f<strong>targeting moiety<\/strong>\u202f(e.g., antibodies, peptides, aptamers, small molecules) with a\u202f<strong>functional payload<\/strong>\u202f(e.g., cytotoxins, immune modulators, nucleic acids, radioligands).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Areas of Interest Include (but are not limited to):<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Novel linker technologies<\/strong>: Cleavable, stimuli-responsive, or tunable linkers that improve stability, release kinetics, or site-specific activation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Alternative targeting moieties<\/strong>: Beyond monoclonal antibodies\u2014such as bispecifics, nanobodies, peptides, or engineered scaffolds.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Payload innovation<\/strong>: New classes of cytotoxic agents, higher drug loading, dual payloads, immune modulators, gene-editing tools, degrader-antibody conjugates (DACs), radioactive isotopes, antibody\u2013siRNA conjugates (ARC) or other bioactive molecules.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Conjugation strategies<\/strong>: Site-specific, orthogonal, or modular conjugation chemistries that enhance manufacturability and therapeutic index.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Platform technologies<\/strong>: Scalable systems for discovery, screening, or manufacturing of targeted conjugates. Technologies to enhance target internalization.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Improvements in antibodies<\/strong>: Innovations in antibody engineering such as improved specificity, stability, or half-life.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Therapeutic Applications<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oncology<\/strong>: Targeting tumor-specific antigens or the tumor microenvironment.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rare Diseases<\/strong>: Precision delivery to affected tissues or cell types.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Neurodegenerative Disorders<\/strong>: Crossing the blood-brain barrier with targeted delivery systems.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases<\/strong>: Targeting immune cell subsets or inflammatory mediators.&nbsp;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Infectious Diseases<\/strong>: Targeting infected cells or pathogen-specific markers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Process<\/strong><br>All submitted projects will be shared with CQDM\u2019s pharmaceutical members for review and ranking. Top ranked projects will be selected to present to CQDM&#8217;s global pharmaceutical members at a <strong>CQDM Connect-Pharma: Pitch Day<\/strong> on <strong>November 20<sup>th<\/sup>, 2025.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Who can apply<\/strong><br>Canadian academic institutions, biotech companies, and research organizations are eligible to apply. Collaborative projects that involve partnerships between academia and industry are also encouraged.
