{"id":2165,"date":"2009-02-23T17:57:10","date_gmt":"2009-02-23T22:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cqdm.org\/en\/news-and-events\/announcement-of-a-new-funding-from-the-government-of-canada\/"},"modified":"2024-09-25T16:41:07","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T20:41:07","slug":"announcement-of-a-new-funding-from-the-government-of-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cqdm.org\/en\/news-and-events\/announcement-of-a-new-funding-from-the-government-of-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcement of a new funding from the Government of Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Montreal, February 23rd, 2009 \u2014 Announcement of a new funding obtained from the Government of Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a press conference held in Montreal, the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) and the Honourable Jean\u2010Pierre Blackburn, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of State (Agriculture) announced the establishment of two new Networks of Centres of Excellence in the Greater Montreal area and one of which is the CQDM \u2013 Qu\u00e9bec Consortium for Drug Discovery. The CQDM becomes one of 4 new business\u2010led networks of Centres of Excellence selected in Canada and will receive 8 millions $ during the next four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThese new networks will help Canadian researchers and entrepreneurs get more of their innovations from the lab to the marketplace,\u201d said Minister of State Goodyear. \u201cOur government is committed to investing in research and development to create jobs, improve the quality of life of all Canadians and strengthen the economy for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the Government of Canada\u2019s key investments that will ensure the country\u2019s long\u2010term prosperity and growth,\u201d added Minister Blackburn. \u201cThese two new networks will encourage more private sector investment in research and development and will train the next generation of researchers, while helping to close<br>the gap between research and commercialization.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present to this press conference were : the Honourable Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Mrs. Suzanne Fortier, President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Mr. Paul L\u00e9vesque, President of Pfizer Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/cqdm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/16.News_February_23_2009-1.pdf\">PDF article<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Montreal, February 23rd, 2009 \u2014 Announcement of a new funding obtained from the Government of Canada.
